Murals in Art Deco Style

Yes, indeed, murals in the Art Deco style are definitely very different from other murals as the title implies. Murals come in different styles and one of them is the Art Deco style. Art Deco style started in France and is known to have spread rapidly in the 1930s and the 1940s. Art Deco is considered an eclectic style because it is a combination of richly colored geometric, decorative, ornamental elements and motifs. This style has affected many areas of art including architecture and interior design and furniture. It also has affected the architecture of many cities in the US and one of them is Miami Beach. Miami Beach is a great place to visit. This area has a great collection of Art Deco buildings, such as hotels and apartment houses, dating from the 1920s to the 1940s. Because the Miami Beach Art Deco district has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places the Historic Preservation Department of Miami has required that all the buildings have been restored and painted in their original soft colors. Art Deco style continues to inspire mural artists, and an example would be the Mural for the Tides Hotel Lobby (2013) located in the Historic Art Deco District in Miami Beach on 1220 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139. Tides Hotel Lobby Mural, Miami Beach, Florida Because the hotel is located in the historic District and its exterior has been inspired by the 1930s Art Deco style, the City of Miami Historic Preservation Department has requested that the mural at the Tides had to depict a fusion of elements characteristic both to the South Beach Art Deco style and to the design of the hotel's lobby. Therefore, the mural is a blending of these elements. It consists of three panels (roughly 12x5 feet, 20x5, and 13x5) that add to the lobby's elegance through the richly decorated forms in pastel colors. The design consists of a vocabulary of abstracted tropical motifs for which South Beach is known for: the sunny beaches and the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, sea shells, the elegant palm fronds, and of course, its vibrantly colored architecture with geometric patterns. The mural was painted on canvas, which was adhered to the lobby's walls is an amalgam of undulating, colorful, and suggestive shapes that connect nicely with the hotel's lobby decor. Georgeta Fondos Photo I am a professional artist and educator. My portfolio consists of hand-painted public and residential murals in various styles, most of them located in South Florida. I am versed in both representational (realistic) and abstract art, and I am always looking forward to projects that challenge my thinking in generating original ideas. Most of my murals are painted in naturalistic style, using the trompe l'oeil effects (from French "to trick the eye".) http://www.muralsbygeorgeta.com/ Rate this Article

A canvas wall art can be bought for a number of reasons. There are some people who purchase paintings as an investment while there are some who purchase them for décor. There are such people too who simply buy paintings and wall hangings because they like to see such stuff hanging on the walls.
